Hotel Porter (Night Shift)

The Hotel Porter plays a critical role in ensuring our guests' experiences are seamless and secure, especially during the night. This position demands adaptability, keen attention to detail, and a commitment to exceptional service, all performed during the night hours. The ideal candidate will be prepared to wear multiple hats, from guest services to security checks, embodying the hotel's dedication to excellence.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  •  Punctual Attendance and Presentation: You are expected to arrive for your shift on time, dressed in full uniform, ready to represent the hotel's standards of professionalism and service.
  • Shift Handover: At the beginning of your shift, you will receive a comprehensive handover from the reception team. This will include information on late arrivals, early checkouts/departures, and any other pertinent details necessary for the smooth operation of the hotel during the night.
  • Guest Services: Your role is pivotal in ensuring late arrivals are not just checked in, but are made to feel welcomed. This includes directing them to their rooms, assisting with luggage as needed, and inquiring if they require refreshments. Your aim is to make their arrival as comfortable and seamless as possible.
  • Security and Safety Checks: Conducting regular security rounds, including fire safety checks, is a key responsibility. You will meticulously log any observations or incidents into the fire logbook, maintaining a vigilant eye on the hotel's security and safety protocols.
  • Financial Responsibilities: The role involves handling financial transactions, which includes cashing up the night porter till and credit card machines at the end of the day. 
  • Night Audit Logs: After financial closures, you will run Night Audit Logs on our hotel management software, HotSoft, ensuring all transactions and activities are accurately recorded.
  • Meeting Room Preparations: Part of your responsibilities will include checking and preparing meeting rooms for early use, ensuring they are open and set up according to the requirements for the day.
  • General Hotel Duties: As a Hotel Porter, you will also be expected to perform a range of general duties that contribute to the overall operation and cleanliness of the hotel. This includes, but is not limited to, maintaining public areas, assisting other departments as needed, and always being ready to go the extra mile for our guests.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a similar role will be considered an advantage.
  • Strong communication skills, flexibility, and the ability to work independently.
  • A commitment to delivering high levels of customer service and maintaining a professional demeanor.
  • Willingness to work night shifts and adapt to the dynamic needs of the hotel.
